Daniel Stuart Nelson is a Kansas native turned die-hard Memphian, who was recently recognized as one of Memphis Flyer's 20 Under 30, an accolade celebrating the city’s brightest young talents. With an impressive array of credits to his name, including both acting and direction/choreography, Daniel's contributions have left an indelible mark on the Memphis theatre scene.
His choreography has garnered regional acclaim, earning him three Ostrander Theatre Awards for Choreography including the coveted Otis Smith Legacy Dance Award for his outstanding and invaluable contribution of time, energy and choreographic talents to the Memphis community.
In addition to his choreographic talents, Daniel is currently in his sixth season as members of the resident acting company with Playhouse on the Square, the heartbeat of Memphis' professional theatre scene. His recent turn as Bob Guadio in the regional premiere production of Jersey Boys earned him his first Ostrander Theatre Award for acting and also marked Daniel's 30th production with Circuit Playhouse Inc.
Beyond the stage, Daniel's work extends into the community and behind the scenes. His dedication to the Memphis arts scene is evident in his role as Advertising Manager at The Orpheum Theatre Group, where he helps bring the magic of touring Broadway to the Mid-South.
In his spare time, Daniel can most likely be found cuddling on the couch with his partner, Payton, and their cats Rizzo & Lucky.
